The Marshfield, Massachusetts, community is mourning the death of John Giberti, affectionately known as “Johnny G,” whose passing on August 6, 2026, has left family, friends, classmates and teammates grieving a young life filled with promise.
For those who knew Giberti, “Johnny G” was more than a nickname. It was a name associated with friendships, classrooms, athletic fields and the many relationships he developed throughout his life.
Giberti grew up in Marshfield, where he became a dedicated student-athlete at Marshfield High School. He competed in both varsity lacrosse and football, becoming a familiar presence within the school’s athletic community.
On the lacrosse field, Giberti played midfield and wore No. 7. He also competed in football, where he wore No. 46. His commitment to both sports helped him build strong connections with teammates and classmates.
Following high school, Giberti continued his education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he studied at the Isenberg School of Management. He pursued finance and economics while remaining active outside the classroom through UMass Club Lacrosse and the Minutemen Alternative Investment Fund.
Giberti also distinguished himself academically. He was reported to have maintained a 3.96 GPA while developing experience in the financial sector. His professional background included serving as a Junior Analyst with the Minutemen Alternative Investment Fund and previously working as a Wealth Management Intern with Baystate Financial.
His combination of academic achievement, athletics and professional ambition reflected a young man building a promising future. For family and friends, his sudden death represents not only the loss of someone deeply loved but also the loss of the years, opportunities and milestones that were still ahead of him.
As news of Giberti’s passing spreads, those who knew him are remembering the person behind the accomplishments — a son, friend, classmate, teammate and member of the Marshfield community whose presence made an impression on those around him.
